How wonderful to get out of the house! I felt that after over four months of quarantine and Bolo with no use of his legs, it was time for a little inspiration. It certainly is what we got.

I can highly recommend taking your older dog for an outing if you feel they are up for it, especially in these trying times. Bolo was, and I think he really enjoyed it. Most dogs love car rides, being doted on and who doesn’t like making new friends! For those of us that care for an older pet, especially one that no longer walks on their own, we need a break, too. Don’t forget yourself in the daily fray of caring for your older or unwell pet, you also deserve some TLC.

Bolo had a nice relaxing car ride up, ac blasting as it’s still hot as Hades, even though we’re in the rain season. He was a trooper as is his usual, not a peep or any sign of being a backseat driver. He contently rode along looking out the window and was very alert and engaged. He didn’t mind the ham and cheese croissant he consumed on the way either! It’s about 40 minutes from Hang Dong to San Sai, to our friend’s spectacular property. I was really looking forward to the day, reconnecting with friends after many months was just what the doctor ordered.

Once we arrived, he had a meet and greet with Jedi and Leah, two beautiful and energetic young dogs that are the loves of my friend’s life. Goes without saying, I think most of us feel that way about our best friends.

They got acquainted, and after relieving himself on the expanse of freshly cut deep green grass, he was ready to go upstairs to his getaway paradise. Bolo is easy, one of the easiest dogs I’ve had the pleasure to share my life with. Nowadays my only goal is his comfort. So as I situated him on his layers of blankets, he was good and ready to chill. He had the best nap I’ve seen him take in ages, he felt comfortable, and this, made it all worthwhile.

Bolo loves attention, whether it’s pets or muzzle kisses. It’s just how he rolls. He got all of that and even let mom take loads of pictures of him. He doesn’t like having his picture taken, but it can’t be helped now that he’s at the incredible age of 26. I want his time documented. I need these precious mementos of my little hero, Bolo. It was a sublimely wonderful day.
