Bolo's Tail

A Rescue Story

Our History

This site is dedicated to the love of my life, Bolo, my senior Thai dog that is 26 years young in this year of 2020. He is my inspiration, complete and total. I’ve been in absolute awe of him for 17 years, since rescuing him after he was hit by a car that left him 100% paralyzed. No one cared, not even a little. Bolo’s will and determination brought him through, and he truly is a miracle. I am now finding myself with no words as to express, how will life be without him. The time is near, and I’m blessed to be with him now, in this very strange time we are all living in, quarantined at home with my boy. I am forever grateful.

What Drives Us

Our Mission

My hope for Bolo’s Tail is that all dog lovers can come here for inspiration, an answer to a question, a tip that is needed, or just to bring a smile to your face. My greatest wish is for you to feel blessed in your commitment to sharing your life’s journey with your golden ager.

Bolo’s Adoptive Mom and Major Dog Enthusiast

I’m a Californian ex-pat who has been living in Chiang Mai, Thailand for 20 years. My incredible and beloved 26-year-old Thai dog, Bolo, was the second, and longest, out of four rescues to enter my pack. He was that special one, he really set in motion my ongoing mission to improve the lives of neglected dogs, cats and rabbits. Yes, rabbits! Many years of my particular experience were focused on public relations in adoptions for a reputable street dog rescue organization in Chiang Mai. Additionally, I founded and operated a private, non-profit rabbit sanctuary. I just love all animals – always have! Living in Thailand often means encountering an animal that has been hit by a car, or neglected ones, even in the area where you live.

There is always plenty of work to be done with local street dogs or cats. One must be prepared to be hands-on, to learn how to personally administer medical care to injured animals, and to know when to get them to a vet. Bolo’s year-long paralyses taught me so much. I had to become a quick study in all manner of therapy, mainly physio and hydro, of which the latter was the crucial element in helping him to walk again. This work, a passion really, continues to be a big part of my life; feeding and medicating dogs, whether it’s for a neighbor’s dog, or a stray that lives outside a 7-11.

These experiences have provided insight into issues of health, and the overall care and well-being of dogs, specifically for my senior Bolo. I would feel it a privilege to share any information of value I may have, or come across, to fellow dog lovers like myself. My own dogs are lucky to have a warm and loving home. So very many dogs, particularly in Thailand, are not so fortunate. They need our assistance, our love, and care. My hope is for every dog to find a loving home, and I wholeheartedly encourage adoption. A senior rescue dog is even better! Let them show you the true meaning of life, love and acceptance.
